Your diet doesn’t just affect your waistline – it has a big impact on your oral health as well. That’s why Dr. Reeve Abraben recommends you take some time to look at your diet and ensure that it doesn’t contain any of the following tooth-damaging food.

Keep an eye on citrus

Citrus fruits – like oranges, lemons, and grapefruit – are an essential part of any healthy diet; however, too much of them will expose your teeth to citric acid. This acid is highly corrosive to your teeth’s enamel, and if you have a high citrus intake you’re putting your enamel health at risk.

Straight black coffee has many health benefits, but unfortunately people don’t like black coffee a lot. All the extra sugar and creamer added to your morning cup is not good for your teeth, and a cup a morning will also stain your teeth. These deep coffee stains are difficult to remove, even with professional whitening services.

Crunchy snacks

Almost everyone loves a good bag of potato chips, but there’s just one problem with them (and other crunchy snack foods) – they contain high levels of starch, which easily gets trapped in your teeth.

If you do eat a lot of these types of foods, you need to spend more time flossing, but it’s recommended that you avoid these foods as much as possible.

If you’re serious about your oral health, you’ll do what it takes to keep harmful foods away from your teeth. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us today at 386.752.1342.
