Severe tooth decay that is ignored or left unrepaired can sometimes compromise a tooth so badly, not even a root canal can save it. In a case like this Dr. Reeve Abraben might need to extract the tooth before it causes significant complications.

One of the most effective ways restore the extracted tooth, is to install a bridge. This is a single state piece of dental work, that looks like three teeth, only the two outermost teeth are actually crowns fitted over abutments made from the two neighboring teeth.

To create the abutments Dr. Reeve Abraben needs to remove the enamel layer from each of the neighboring teeth. The abutments look like little posts and will later serve to anchor your bridge in place.

At the end of this first appointment Dr. Reeve Abraben will make an impression of the abutments and corresponding teeth in your bite pattern. Then he will cover the abutments with hard plastic temporary crowns.

The impression is sent to a dental lab as a guide, while they create your permanent bridge.

When the dental lab has completed your new bridge, Dr. Reeve Abraben will call you back in for a second appointment to remove the temporary crowns and cement your new bridge in place.

If you have lost a tooth or have one that suffers from severe tooth decay, you should call Dr. Reeve Abraben at 386.752.1342 to schedule an appointment
